Never a day's rest
Cavendish and Andy Schleck both won their respective criteriums in Belgium on Monday 27 July, Cav beating McEwen in his sprint. Frank S finished third in the same criterium as Andy.
And it was also announced Cav won’t be going to the Vuelta - maybe he'll instead be spending his time playing speed chess with his new wife?

Never heard it called speed chess before, knedlicky, for Melissa's sake, I hope he's truly an endurance man. http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/images/ ... on_lol.gif
(it was a good Cycle Sport article though)0 -
Resting up ahead of the World Championships perhaps. Gives Mark Renshaw a chance to win a few stages.
And who was it that was supposed to be getting married but got a last minute call up to le Tour and found himself riding up Mt Ventoux on what should have been the wedding day? Would have been cool to have the vicar & fiancé waiting at the top for some kind of prenuptual blessing.0 -
Charlie Wegelius I think.0

Aye, definitely Wegelius.
If he's been my fiance, I'd have strangled him, but hey- you have to admire him for it.0 -
Does anyone know where a list of post-tour criteriums can be found?**************************************************

The big money postTour crits are mostly in the South of the Netherlands and Flanders
Knedlicky - Just to be pedantic, didn't the Schlecks do the Boxmeer crit yesterday? That's in Holland, not Belgium...0 -

Good news for Renshaw (and every other sprinter in the world), that Cav isn't riding the Vuelta.
May even give Tommeke a chance for a win (if he can stay out of the clubs until then)0 -

No problem. Just having a look through that list it seems the complaints for years now of the demise of the criteriums isn't completely justified: in both Holland and Belgium a crit every night from the end of the Tour until far into August. Every night.
For those not reading Dutch, this page is of interest too, who rides where: http://www.freewebs.com/wielercriterium ... ijsten.htm
Seems Bertie doesn't need much rest0 -
Maybe Cav will be riding the TOBWhen I see an adult on a bicycle, I do not despair for the future of the human race. ~H.G. Wells0

Would be nicer to see quickstep give the spot to allan davis though considering he got dumped for boonen at the tour. I take it this will also mean griepel is in for vuelta so wouldn't count on renshaw being there. More than likely other columbia riders who you could say are easily TdF material will do vuelta. Boassen Hagen, Griepel, Lovkvist and give some of the supertrain seen at le tour a rest, rogers went down hard at the tour and hincapie reported today he did his collarbone in the fall in stage 19 was it?0
