Triple bottom bracket confusion

I have a Campagnolo Racing T triple system from 1999 or 2000 on my bike. The present bottom bracket needs to be replaced. It is 115mm. However, the new bottom brackets of equivalent quality (Record and Chorus) that is supposed to be for triples are 111mm. Do I have to settle for a Veloce (only 115mm I have found) or will these new Record 111mm work?

    Hi,

I have been asking similar questions about Campagnolo bottom brackets in the last few weeks on the forum and I have had helpful answers.

My understanding is the highest grade BB bracket you can go for is the Centaur. cheaper ones as you say are Veloce, Xenon etc. If you want to go for Chorus and Record, you'll have to change to compatible cranksets (Chorus and Record of course). Although they are all square tapers the 'slope' is different. I have just ordered

That is the cheapest I found in UK. Don't know about Sweden!

Bear in mind that I am new to all this and there may be some campag experts on the forum that will correct me!

    Thanks for the link.
However, I'm even more confused now . I thought the difference was in axis lenght (115mm on the one I have 111mm on newer Record). But have I got it right that a Record 111mm:

    and a Veloce 111mm:
    http://www.totalcycling.com/index.php/p ... ELOCE.html
are different? How will I know which to get. The Racing T was marketed as a 'high-end' triple, so the gut feeling would be that the record would fit but not the veloce. :?:

111 Veloce and Centaur duble are symmetrical. (115 is for triple)
111 triple Chorus and Record are asymmetrical. (102 is for double)

    Square tapers are the same.

It is descripted in details at Campagnolo web site in BB manuals.

You will need a 115mm veloce with your existing triple set-up. Record 111mm is also for triple crankset but needs RECORD/CHORUS triplecrankset.

    Therefore

Centaur, Veloce and lower: 111mm double, 115mm triple

Chorus, Record 102mm double, 111mmm triple
