Quick question, is the above stuff the right grease for stem bolts, pedal threads etc. or should i be looking at something else? Going to be fitting a new stem and bars once i've sorted out the right grease!

Appoligise for being a complete noob but thanks for any help!

To be honest, you can use lithium grease for threads, but you're better off using copper grease to stop them seizing.

At risk of stating the obvious the interface between the stem and the fork steerer should be "dry" as should that between the bars and the stem. Grease the bolt threads to stop them seizing and reduce the possibility of "creaking" eventually, but do check them after a few miles to make sure that they haven't worked loose of their own accord.

Avoid lithium based grezases on threads, it has alovely habit of weldong the materials together and drying out. It is better for bearings.

Use a teflon fortified, non lithium grease for all round duties or copalsip as above for threads.

Cheers guys much appreciated, a trip to Halfords it is then, hopefully the lithium TR2 will come in handy in the future! Is the Teflon based grease the right stuff for my seatpost as well?

    Thanks again!

Nah, Halfords sells decent greases, you can get castrol there, or their own brand copper grease, and some outlets have silkolene too.

Yes but they also like to screw there customers over on a regular basis.

So? Use them for what you want, take advantage of the convenience, decent motor factors are few and far between these days and bike shops universally charge too much for this sort of product.
