Entering my first event tomorrow - not really a race. What is the normal way of attaching the race number to my jersey?

    not really a race :?:
constantly reavalueating the situation and altering the perceived parameters accordingly

Thanks, you're showing me pictures of what I do not have!

    Have improvised now.

It's amazing isn't it? Over the years I've been interested in cycling, bikes and riding kit have changed dramatically - cassettes v sprocket blocks; clipless pedals; tri-bars; special TT bikes; indexed gears controlled from the brake levers; carbon frames etc etc Yet they still use safety pins to hold the numbers on :) There must be a high tech solution - Velcro?

If it's a charity ride - stick the number in your pocket and pull it out at the food stop if anyone questions you. Otherwise the number is just there to make you feel special.

I've done loads of them and never worn my number.

Same as pokerface, annoys me when they give you those rubbish number to stick to your handlebars that just flap in the wind.

I just prefer to shove it in a pocket.

Remember to crumple it up first and then flatten out - much more aero that way.
I'm left handed, if that matters.

Dont they some with safety pins? I know my club has race numbers for TT's and safety pins are included.

Sounds more like a posrtive, ones I have seen you tie wrap a number onto the front of your bike.

Use some old canes and fashion a nice antennae from the back of your seat and fly your number like a flag. A sort of Mod fox tail style happening. That will get you noticed, too.

    Nice.

Alternatively glue it to your forehead, easy for all to see and you'll look like you're kicking it in a big number bandana stylee. As you work up a sweat by the end of the ride you should be able to peel it off, no probs, honest.
