im on a very limited budget of £100 for a pair of wheels, crc are currently selling the 2008 mavic aksium for £95, the shimano rs10 for £90 the fsa rd60 for £85 and the shimano r500 for £80. ive had the older r500`s on a previous bike and found them to be ok if a little bit difficult to get tyres on but the others ive not tried i had an old set of cosmics and some cosmos but not the aksium so my question is this, which ones do i get?? if it helps im on the larger side of thin haha so need a fairly strong wheel. all advice welcome. my other option is to try and get a rear wheel to go with the xero front that i have. so if anyone has a rear wheel to sell thats reasonably priced and black, let me know.
who cares?

  • For great value wheels I'd say look at the Planet X Model B wheelset. £125 a pair and only 1600 grams, a cool 300 grams lighter than aksiums.
Having said that I use Aksiums as training wheels as Planet X don't do Campag hubs. However it sounds like you're on Shimano anyway, so Planet X is definitely worth a look.
