Small dent on chainstay. Is this anything to worry about?

Hi All,

I have just noticed a small dent on the non-drive side chainstay of my steel frame. I am just wondering if this is anything to worry about and should I get it repaired? The dent is only about 3mm in diameter and not particularly deep (the paint still appears mostly intact). My gut feeling tells me that I am being a little precise and that it should be nothing to worry about but any advice on the issue is most welcome.

All the best,

jamis

hi personally i would not worry about this going on the size you mention and with it being a steel frame this should not affect it at all if it is only the size you mention and the paint is not cracked, how ever next time your going past your LBS show them to be on the safe side they will give you expert advice and will be able to see the damage probably and they wont charge you for the advice regards

    Thanks for the response shamus1975.

I have included a photo of the dent which shows its size and the extent of the damage to the paint. Any more advice in light of the photo would be very welcome.

thats tiny i would not worry about it just keep a eye on it as where the paint as come away you dont want rust to form may well be worth putting a bit of lacquer on it or see if you can get some touch up paint for it
