Evening folks.

Well the FSA bottom bracket has just about had it on my 07 Giant XTC 4.5 so i'm looking to upgrade to an XT BB & cranks. Basically I'm looking for some advice on what size BB I need? I'm looking to buy from Merlin Cycles - http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/mountain- ... inset.html

It says that it comes complete with bottom bracket for 68 and 73 mm frames?????
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Unfortunately the Merlin website won't open for me at the moment so apologies if this is a more expensive option for the chainset but bike-components.de has the XT M770 chainset for 129 euro including shipping to the UK, which comes to £111.25 roughly :D Only thing is, there's a delay in shipping due to demand but you can understand why at that price...

Just to clarify Hollowtech II BB's come with a set of spacers which let you fit them to both 68mm and 73mm frames. Also by the time you include P&P, shipping it in from Germany only saves a couple of quid, dependant on the exchange rate. Support British business

you will also need a couple of special tools to fit the the bb and do up the preload.

That price includes the P&P. Fair point if you feel like supporting British businesses, though I doubt Merlin will feel the loss of that one purchase :P Being from Ireland myself where we pay through the nose for EVERYTHING, I'll buy wherever I can get the cheapest prices.

The tool you'll need is here. Or just take it to your LBS, shouldn't cost too much.
