do you not realise that the massive faceless firms with terrible customer service are the reason the local bike shop is struggling.

please do not degenerate a debate into name calling

You're right, I've edited my post.

However, spreading your frustrations across different threads and forums comes across as being vindictive and takes the edge of your complaint.

Well - I've just emailed them regarding a faulty tyre. Not a huge issue, I know - but am curious to see if they get back to me and sort it out. Was advised by Vittoria UK to deal with them directly.

I feel a good game of "pass the buck' coming on....

It's the usual probelm - if you want something at a good price, you sometimes have to wait. If you can't wait, buy from your LBS.

Sorry, I hear this quoted so often about how wonderful your LBS is and you should use them all the time.

I never said my LBS was wonderful - just making a point that you sometimes have to wait to get the best deal. If your LBS is shite, find another one.
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

Surely all these problems have come to their attention?
If they want to stay in business these basic rules of customer relationship have to improve.
    Must go faster.

It depends how many satisfied customers they have compared to unsatisfied. I think everyone on the forum pretty much knows that Ribble aren't the most customer friendly or quickest online retailer, but they are cheap. How many threads need to be started to say the same thing, and how many times would the whingers post about good service?

You're right, of course, you didn't say that. I was reacting out of crossness :-)

Good service should be expected, and there shouldn't be any need for what should be the norm to get posts on a forum.

Exceptional good service does happen, and should be rewarded with a mention.

when I receive my frame it will be immediately re-sprayed as a "ROURKE" frame by the single best bike shop in the country.

if they're that good why are you ordering a frame from Ribble then?

Basically Rourkies couldn't get me the frame I was after. This particularly frame often retails at £2000+ when branded as a Casati or Guerciotti. Since I can buy one and re-spray it for half that price, I am getting a bargain.
I won't complain too much about Ribble as they are one of the biggest online retailers and must have to cope with huge volume of orders. They did ring me up earlier today to advise I need a specific headset for this frame so I have bought one from them over the phone as the discounted it for me. The guy I spoke to was polite and knew what he was talking about, so clearly there are some people at Ribble who know about bikes.

Can you advise where you are getting your Scuro re-painted please ?

Been thinking of doing likewise - buying the Scuro RS and applying Dedacciai decals in place of the Ribble ones at a minimum but I do have a paint scheme in mind that I would much prefer to have done but don't have access to a good painter that I would be comfortable giving a frame of this value to work on (used to get frames sprayed by Terry Dolan but he no longer does customer re-sprays and the one quote I got from Atlantic Boulevard was eye-wateringly expensive).

Be interested to know who would be doing yours, what sort of money it would costa nd what the finished result looks like.

    Cheers
  • Andy, check your messages, I've sent you some info on who to talk to.
    Hope this helps.
