Hey, wonder if anyone has any suggestions for me, after a couple of years riding I'm looking to upgrade my hardtail (kona hoss) for a full susser, however I'm quite a big bloke (6'3 and 15 stone) so need something that can take a fair bit of punishment. Type of riding I do is mainly trail centres and peak district. I've got a budget of about 1500, could possibly find up to 2000 but would prefer to spend less rather than more!! Initial thoughts are 2010 pitch pro when it comes or possibly a meta 5.5. Any help would be great cheers!!

am also a biggun at 6'2 and 15stone and demo'd a Commencal at Llandegla and found it a bit twitchy for my liking. My current bike is an 08 Enduro (which is ACE) and when I first the Pitch it honestly felt every bit as good as the Enduro. Not the lightest bike but if you're like me you need to feel that you've got something substantial between your legs. Oooer!

I almost bought a meta 5 last year but as soon as I threw a leg over it, it felt too delicate for my huge, powerful muscular frame *ahem*

After a few more 'bear on a tricycle' test rides, I got a Cannondale Rize 5 size L and fitted bigger tyres and a wider bar. I can't stop riding it :D
  • I wouldn't wait for the 2010 bikes tbh. I'd see what's there in 09 or 08 preferably. If prices are as they seem to be, it's going to be another big rise for next year so you'll be getting much more for your money on the older stuff, and tbh it's not going to be bad unrideable stuff, just better vfm.

I've got myself a Specialized Stumpjumper

I am all so 6ft3" and weigh in just under 19 stone (I was shocked as well), my scales must be wrong.
Anyway I am quite an aggresive rider and do like to get both wheels of the ground sometimes and this bike is great. But I am going to invest in some new wheels for it.

Bike is standing up to my abuse, but did replace the bottom bracket and I expect the crank will be next after the new set of wheels

Theres no contest between the two bikes if you want to ride hard and
a bike to get you there and back its the Specalized Pitch.

meta 5 all the way, i have one and its f**king awesomeeeee. pitch pro 09 model is a very good bike aswell but the meta 5 is so damn good for agressive riding.

That's like saying i want a door for my car that doesn't meet the roof, because I once had the wind blow it shut when I was getting in, and I had my head squished between, well, the door and the roof.
