Shimano crank set

Should this shimano crank set here have a few flat teeth on the large ring or is my set naffed.
I've developed a clicking and only on the top ring,from the picture it appears not to have any flats,mine has,I thought perhaps they might assist with gear changes...or are they damaged,thanks... :oops:

    Thanks for that,I've been out since I posted and it was noisey in every gear.
    I stripped off the pedals and found the bottom bracket is the issue.
