Bike glasses and prescription lenses

Are there any good quality biking glasses that can take prescription lenses? I have some existing prescription sunglasses, but they aren't designed for riding, and I quite fancy a decent wrap around pair. I'd be doing mainly road riding with some very occasional off road, and also wearing them as regular sunglasses.

Thanks,

Dave.

I have Oakley A-Wire with prescription lenses. They wrap around nicely but as they cost me almost £400 I'm always worrying about them falling off (although they never have). I have since invested in some disposable contact lenses and a pair of £10 Bolle Contours.

Optilabs do some good ones. I have some BBB's with a prescription insert. By far the best solution is contact lenses (if you can get on with them) then you can purchase any glasses you like.

Be aware that prescription lenses that have "wrap" in them may not suit you or you may not like the vision results. See a good eye doctor and ask him about this. While wraparound lenses may look really good, putting a prescription lense in them that works well doesn't always "work well". Also if you need bifocals get them put on your sunglasses also. A bit more expensive but well worth it.

Thanks for the replies :). The reason I was looking at prescription lenses is that I am not sure I can get on with contacts - the last time I tried them (admittedly about 10 years ago), the optician put the first one in, and about 30 seconds later I nearly passed out! Didn't like it at all. Maybe I'll give them another try, as like you say I'll be able to use any glasses I like then :).

Also contact lens technology has come on in leaps and bounds in 10 years.

if youre sphere is between -4 and +2 you should be able to get some oakleys, they wont do greater than that because the vision won't be perfect all around. i bought some rudy projekt rydon chrome last year with the presciption insert because oakley wouldnt do my prescription. never biked in them but the inserts do sometimes steam up in the car

I had problems with contacts also. No problems wearing them outside, as the natural moisture in the air helped keep them feeling good. Once inside however, and I work in an office, the dry air of heating and air conditioning made them seem dry all the time and
    I gave it up.
