In my quest for a hardtail to add to the garage i'm also looking at the on-one bikes, namely the inbred or the scandal

can anyone give me a rough idea what sort of weight they build up to? obviously the budget will dictate it a fair bit but a ball park would be great - any owners out there?

Very much depends on the parts. Frame weights are about 4.7lbs for a standard inbred, 5.3lbs for a 456 in M. Ish.

so inother words the same as any other similarly specced bike give or take a 1/2 kg.

Scandal frame I think (iirc) around 3.5lbs.Blooming light in other words!Easy to build sub 25lbs.
Even an XT groupset equipped 456 is going to be in the high twenties given that you are going to need to use a suitably burly fork to do it justice.

I think there's weights for the Scandal on the website isn't there? Mine was around 3 and a half lbs for the small but I can't remember exactly, 3.6 sounds about right.
