Is it possible to use a road rear mech on an MTB?

I have a spare Campagnolo Veloce 10 Speed mech and was thinking of using it on the 9 speed MTB i'm building with rapid fire??

Thanks

Campag won't work, as I am pretty sure uses a different cable pull.

But generally yes (shimano with shimano, sram with sram). Be aware tham some mechs may not work well with big rear cogs. Always check the specs ie capacity and max cog size.

as above the amount of cable pull is different, BUT the shimano ratios are the same so might be able to use a campy/shimano pull ratio adaptor thingy.
