Cant turn pedals

Hi

Taken the bike out tonight.
Sheltered from the rain,then decided I would have to sprint the last two miles home.
Then found the pedals were jammed could not pedal or back pedal.
Could not see anything wrong.
Changed from top crank to middle and could then spin the wheel.
Whats causing the problem?

    sounds like a chain jam.

    Yup, probably nothing to worry about. If it keeps happening, it may be time to change the chainrings (the ones attatched to the crank-arms).

    If you're unsure, get you LBS to have a look.
