Piston popped out

was bleeding my promax brakes yesterday and the spacer between the pistons fell out and one of the pistons almost came out (squirted DOT4 all over me as well). I tried pushing it back in but I think its stuck now, and at a slight angle so the pads wont fit in.

any ideas how to level out the piston and get it back in?

Wiggle it - just a little bit. Should work its way in.

ok ill give that a go. it seems jammed pretty tight though.

doesnt it matter that a piston pretty much came out of the caliper and leaked fluid?

They are designed to come out for a full service. Have you got the instructions?

    ah thats good then.

well i did have the instructions, but they were in chinglish and only said how to bleed the brakes. some of the worst instructions ever and led me to take out a bolt i shouldnt and leak fluid everywhere. they got ruined by dot4 anyways.

ill get to sorting out the piston then bleed them in again with a hayes kit - much better than the crap that came with the brakes.

I did the same thing once with an older pair of deores, I just bled all of the oil out the system, took time to lube the pistons as they were already out, then popped em back in, topped up with oil and was ok.

if the piston is in at an angle then hold the other one firm and pull the lever. this will force it out.

    re fit and bleed.
