eBay Sora Triple crank & Sora triple levers advice?

Heya guys & gals,

I'm not at home right this second, using a friends computer because I've ran out of Internet credit on the mobile Internet dongle thingy.

Anyway, Brought a Shimano Sora Triple Crank and a set of Shimano Sora Triple front levers. I've not fitted them to the bike just yet as I was very concerned about the fact that when I de-boxed them this morning and flipped the levers the front left side lever only clicked twice and the right hand lever only clicks seven times.

I currently have an 8 speed bike and was expecting these levers as listed (Sora triple front, 8speed rear) to click 3times left and 8 times right? but like I've mentioned their not connected to the bike just yet because their only clicking 2 left and 7 right.

How do I know if these are the models listed on eBay?
Surely even without cable tension they should click the desired amount their meant to right?

All advice on this subject is welcome as I'm really worried here, I'm skint as it is the eBay listing mentioned 3front, 8 rear I paid £54 which is all well and good and I'm happy with that. Just scared I'm going to add them to the bike and their not going to be of any use to me what-so-ever.

I also know Shimano do, do a 2fton and 7 rear Sora range and this would be a downgrade from what I've got atm and if that is the case what I'll have to do is sell them again on eBay to another bidder but with the correct listing.

I would also like to mention that I've sent an email kindly to the eBay seller who mentioned to me that it could indeed be the cable tension I require for them to shift as they should (3 front, 8 rear)

I'm just going on and on now, so could someone give me some advice without taking half my bike to bits and buggering the whole lot up, I've just about worked out how to tune the front and rear mech's from reading the lovely pages provided and have to say they've helped me out no end so far since being a member of bike radar :)

Very kind regards,
MajorPayne

I'm a major payne in the rear an so's my saddle! Gotta love the local bike, innit!

    Hi there

I sounds as though you have got shifters for a triple and for an 8-speed cassette. If you are already on your biggest chainring, the first click will take you to the middle and the second to the small ring (and similarly for the rear gears) - any more than that and you'll be dropping your chain.

    Hope this allays your worries.
