I’ve got a 07 Ibis mojo one of the earlier ones not the SL. Been riding it for two years now, there has always been a little creaking from the frame or swingarm but nothing bad you might notice it a little when you are pushing hard on the flat or uphill.
Just got back from a week HAMMERING in Wales and decided to give it full service took me best part of the day. After I finished took it out for a spin to check my handy work all was well but I’ve now got lots of creaking going on. (it was only a general service I did nothing to the frame)

Has any Mojo riders out there had any frame creaking in the past? I’m I just worrying for the sake of worrying or do I have a problem?
I know Stif sell a service kit, this thing: http://www.stif.co.uk/gear/select_optio ... &store=mtb
As anyone every installed one? How do I know if I need one? The service looks really easy but I don’t want to waste money!
I only use the bike on weekends as I commute on my single speed, so it’s not had much use my Garmin is showing 3,100miles since I bought it 23months ago. So I suppose that's quite a lot.

I can’t determine where the creak is coming from (defiantly not the saddle or seat post) it’s just around the rear swingarm area. I’ve checked the frame carefully and there is no damage or cracks and the bike still rides perfectly.

Grateful for advice!

have you lubed or checked the pivot bearings/bushes and are all the bolts tight around the swingarm, have you changed the bottom bracket at all? is it a creak when you pedal or all the time? you could disconnect the shock and manually move the swingarm through its travel that way you could see if its a dry shock pivot or something on the swingarm.
    who cares?

I did a bolt check and they were all torqued up correctly but i’ve not disassembled anything. I wanted some advice first. Bottom bracket is original XTR still working perfectly.
The creak is all the time just move it and it’s creaking, no need to mount the bike let alone ride it.
I might disconnect the shock as you suggest it’s only 2 bolts. Got to be worth a try. Thx
  • have you changed/serviced the bearings at all in the 2 years you've owned the bike?

have you done up the rear qr?

take it to pieces and see if you can replicate the squeak with just the frame...

No never serviced the bearings or replaced any parts associated rear suspension assembly. Thought that if it was working I would leave it alone. Like I said it's always creaked a little even when new it's just got worse now.

I've not been able to find any information on service intervals for the frame.
I'm emailing Ibis right now to get some clarification.

I'm going to send my forks and rear shock to be TF tuned in the winter as they've also not been serviced (although working well) even after 2 years. I could service the rear end then as I ride my steed every weekend.

I'm not sure it's possible to strip it down and grease everything I think you have to fit the new kit then. But I'm guessing.

I did email Ibis about the creaking but they offered me no advice just told me to take it Stif, which I don't mind doing but I would rather service it myself, it can't be hard.

Maybe I should I bite the bullet and get the service kit now I don't want to risk any damage!

Anyone out there fitted this kit?

    thx again

Hey. Yes it still creaks even without the wheels or seat/post it's not coming from the BB it's defiantly coming from the linkages somewhere.
