Hope Hed Doctor & Expanding-Type Headset Plugs?

I am about to start my first bike build and I have just received my frame and forks today.
The frame already has the headset fitted, but it is minus the star fangled nut and topcap.
How good are the 'Hope Hed Doctor' and other expander-type plugs? These obviously look less fiddly, in comparison to the traditional star fangled nut, but are they as good?

if you can fit them they can be ok. they do not fit all forks. and they can be a bigger pain than star flanged nuts.
I have two in my tool box un used as they cam free with the hope headsets.
watch the vid on Hopes site about fitting and then have a think. linkys above."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I use one, very easy to fit with just an allen key. A bit heavier then a star nut but alot more painless IMO.0

Had a look at the video and it looks too simple to be true! I think I'll have a dabble!
Thanks for the replies.0 -
Start nut is simplicity itself and much lighter than the other solutions.0

Piece of pish to fit but bear in mind that if you have an aluminium steerer tube it may be a bit harder as the tube walls are thicker.
And what ever you do DON'T GREASE IT to get it in.0 -
