Upgrading Forks

I'm new to cycling and a couple of years ago bought a Scott Yecora Disc which I didnt touch for 18 months. Over the last 6 months Ive started to ride along canal towpaths and country lanes etc. The front suspension on this bike is pretty poor and I'm sure an upgrade would make sense. Could anyone help in providing some advice on what forks would make a sensible upgrade please. I dont need the very best but something that will enhance my riding enjoyment and improve the bike.

The current forks are Axel Manitou, not sure if there are different models. I'm not planning on doing anything too extreme but general off road stuff.

Thanks
Martin
