I'll be taking my first pair of glued-up tubs out for a spin tomorrow morning. I've no idea if they'll stay on the rims. I'm bloody terrified.

Next time: Tape!

Still here. A bit nervous in the first few corners. Nice ride quality...

I'm more trustful of glue than tape. It's just more of a faff.

    Glad you survived Gavin.
  • I used tubs back in the 70s. I remember going down Hard Knott Pass - and the bloody glue melted, the tub rolled around the rim and ripped the valve out. Luckily I was heading for a species of banking, rather than the bottomless chasms which abound there.

Next time I tried it, I did two bends, stopped and removed wheel, turned it round, two more bends, ditto repeato until the bottom...I took longer going down than up!

That was the old Dunlop stuff in the tins. And Wolber Juniors....

I'd never go back to tubs - mending them was a vastly overrated pastime. Memories of sewing them up on Saturday afternoons, watching the wrestling on ITV....Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks...
