Twitchy Front end...

Hi Guys, would appreciate a quick piece of advise...

I ride a Felt Compulsion 2, with Pike 409's and WTB Prowler XT 60TPI Dark Skinwall 26x2.25 tyres, and I'm finding that the front end is really twitchy and hard to control. Now it might be just my poor technique or that I'm not putting enough weight over the front when cornerning etc, but I find myself really slowing down and having no confidence, and losing my mates in the process when it comes to tight turns and corners!

Just wondering if you think I could make a mod to maybe tyres or if it's just that I need more practice???
:?:

Cheers Guys!!

    what stem?

how much sag are you running on the fork?

and how much sag on the rear?

  • Cheers Nick, the stem is 90mm - 7 degree rise,

I think the sag is about 20 - 25 percent front and rear. (145mm travel on the rear)

if you want to corner fast, it always helps to really force the front into the ground. It can feel disconcerting at first, but you'll soon get used to it.
Remember that if you can force the front round, then you can pretty much ignore what the back end is doing.

90mm is quite a long stem

Could be your tyres. I had some Tiogas on my bike and the walls were that thin they felt like they were going to colapse going round corners. I changed em to Michelin downhill tyres and its been grand ever since
