Cleat bolts protruding

I received some crank bros candy pedals with a second hand bike purchase recently. After installing the cleat to my shoe, I've noticed the bolts protrude by about 3mm on the inside. I can't actually feel them after the sole is inserted but I'm worried that as the sole wears I could end up getting some nasty pressure points. Is this normal for crank brothers cleats, or I am missing a washer or perhaps a shorter bolt?

i use shimano but i had a similar problem once when i lost a bolt for the cleats. i got a new bolt which was too long so i just cut the threads down to size with a hack saw and filled the end off.Road Bike; http://www.bikeradar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12727419
