Adjusting a campag front mech - first timer
My chorus 11 front mech is rubbing my chain and needs adjusting, can anyone point me to a resource on the net that clearly shows me what to do, i have checked out the campy site and googled it, but i am still baffled.
The front mech should be easy, its the rear derailleur that must be tough.

No, the front is more tricky than the back.
You must do this in sequence to get it right. Try http://www.parktool.com/repair/readhowto.asp?id=64
(Don't let anyone tell you to mess around with limit screws if this set up has been working OK. In fact, if it has been working OK it is probably just cable tension, unless it has been knocked.)
My tip: I went wrong with Campag Centaur 10-speed when I put the cable into the holding screw slightly too tight. This meant the cable was never at rest against the limit screw on the inside. The cable was too tight, rubbed a bit and came off a rachet at its tightest over the big chainring.)
Campagnolo instructions often don't make sense in any language.0 -
Most people don't understand the importance of front mech alignment - it should be parallel with the chainrings and the lower edge of the outer cage should clear the chainrings by 1-3mm. Set the lower stop screw - inside chainring and large sprocket - it should just clear the chain on the inside. Set the outside position - large chainring and large sprocket - the front mech cage again should just clear the chain. Lazy mechanics fail to set the bottom stop correctly and use cable tension instead.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
