Re-Oil chain & Fork Grease?

I am planning on giving my bike a good hose down in a few minutes. I don't have any specific chain lube so was hoping that 3 in 1 would be okay for tomorrow, and then after that I can buy some decent stuff (will this damage it?)
I have also noticed, on the right stanchion of my fork there seems to be a sort of scrape mark, although it doesn't look like a scrape... It is towards the bottom and at the line where the stanchion goes down and out of view, and the black metal has faded a bit to silver. How can do I maintain my fork after a hose down, and again will 3 in 1 be okay?
I am planning on hitting a few trails with a friend tomorrow and really want to get it in a good condition.
Thanks

chain 3 in 1 will do if you have nothing else.
fork wipe clean with damp cloth and then invert the forks for a short time before the next ride.
as Marz forks are open bath the oil moves up to the top of the fork and lube the seals."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

My forks are RST Gila Pro, so if I just wipe it with a cloth and then leave it upside down for half an hour so, this will be okay?
I really appreciate it, and know this very last minute. Thanks.0 -
well in that case it may not be an open bath fork as it will do nothing.
is it an open bath fork? Sorry cant be bothered to look it up at the moment.
and if it was an open bath fork i was talking about seconds, IE when you hear the oil get there it is enough."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Nope
I don't actually have any proper specs, the RST site sucks and it didn't come with an individual manual. As far as I know there is just a spring (or two?) and oil inside.0 -
Could you recommend a type of grease to put on the stanchions?0
