Lateral wheel flex

Hi,
How much lateral flex should a wheel normally have? Am noticing when cornering that if I start pedalling I can feel the back wheel squirm, kinda feels like the bike is “crabbing” as I pedal. If I hold the top of the wheel while stationary I can flex it about 1.5cm each way, Is this normal? It feels like it’s flexing more than that when I’m riding.
If it’s not normal, what are possible culprits? Spoke tension, worn out bearings, I’m just so dam strong? (I know it’s not the last 1, but I needed more options to list ) It is quite an old bike, were they just like that back in the day?
Cheers

sounds like the wheel needs a re-tension it should not flex."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

It sounds like what I had. If you put your hand on the hub and push/pull does it move laterally there? If so it could well be what I had. If its cone and cup check the bearings and cone and cup for damage. In my case I'd chipped the cone.
The bike shop cleaned it all up and replaced the cone for a fiver.0
