In those who managed more than 186 miles a week on their bikes, the proportion of sperm that was the correct size and shape had fallen to 4%, the point at which men may struggle to conceive without fertility treatment.

It's OK, I ride below 186 miles a week, about 100 miles below.

  • Surely it's just a case of the weaker sperm getting dropped whilst the stronger one's get ready for a sprint finish?
If they can get you asking the wrong questions, they don't have to worry about answers.

I'm so fertile cycling probably limits my sperm production to that of normal folk.

  • Yeah, I think it's well known that raised temperatures in that region do your sperm count no good - that's why they are outside! I think it's not only cycling, but any sport where they're squashed together and you're making them hotter by exercising for long periods of time will affect your sperm count. Maybe if you're overly worried you could take a "b@#$s bottle" with some spare water for...... well.....you know.....splashing around ;)

Had mines checked and my little swimmers are fine and dandy despite many miles in the saddle. Its a load of b*ll*cks if you pardon the pun.

Agree with above. From what I know of this subject (nought really), they key thing is the temperature of your gonads - that's why they are external after all. Maybe....

I had 5 people send me that article the day it appeared on the website. What are people trying to tell me?

It's a good job I've got a couple of kids and don't want anymore...

It is a load of rubbish definitely. Had children and want more, and will be possible.

It's just some silly woman trying to get her own back on all men. Maybe she was dumped for a beautiful blond so is taking it out on all men.
