I've seen one of these quite cheap and as I fancy a crack at Road biking thought it might be ok. Bearing in mind I'd be looking at the cheap end of the market before I'm sure I enjoy it is this a reasonable starter bike?

I know they have a terrible rep for mountain bikes but (for the price) it looks an ok bike.

When I got into road biking at around age 18 I bought one of these...the 2001 model. It'll be okay for a first road bike but if you get hooked on road biking you'll be wanting to replace it very soon.

Did you buy that TDF 02 a couple of years back as a mate of mine has been offered one.
Read a couple of reviews and seem to be OK to get into road cycling although bottom bracket/chainset seems to have been replaced by all who commented. Wondered if you did get it have you upgraded this also and if so what with?
