Race licence?

I want to have a go at cross this winter, would I need a full BC Licence or would a provisional be acceptable, could do without the extra expense if I can get away with it! Cheers for the advice

    It has been a while since I've done cyclo-cross. I didn't need a licence then. I don't think you can collect points in cyclo-cross.
    To err is human, but to make a real balls up takes a super computer.

    A provisional is all you need. But yes you can collect special cross points with a full racing licence.
