Please could I have some recommendations on a comfy saddle, I've got a Specialized Indie XC on my rockhopper pro atm and it's killing my arse on even 2 hour rides.
I'm looking for something to be very comfy.
Sorry if this has been asked before.
Thanks

Hi,
Ive got a Charge Spoon...much more comfy than the original saddle on my Boardman.
A lot on here also recommend the Sdg Bel Air saddle.
And some padded cycling shorts! Why has my sig been removed by the admins???0 -
Wtb speed V. Got one on my dawg and it's like a sofa.0

And i don't mean six feet wide and heavy!0

Some of the Bontrager saddles are getting good reviews. The ones where you measure your bum then get the appropriate size. Also, lots of people seem to like the Fizik Gobi.0

Adjust the angle of dangle first and then see if another saddle is needed after. A couple of degree change is all it needs sometimes.Claud Bulter Cape Wrath D27 (2009)

I can vouch for that, couple of weeks with a slight angle error left me incredibly uncomfortable, I just couldn't be bothered to alter it. Did it in the end though0 -
I will try this saddle

it has a very wide and long groove in the genitalia area
like you i need something more comfortable for rides about 2-3hours and indoor training0 -
Just bought Fizik Gobi and first rides seem its good---a bit like the road Arione saddlke which is great , never would use another type0

SQ Lab or Specialized Body Geometry, both base the right saddle for you on the distance between your arse bones with an extra cm or so added in width the more casual (and more upright) your riding position is.

I got the SDG Ti-Fly
Yes it might not be a cloud of air, but I dont spend a lot of time on the seat, but dont find it that bad.
Wish I would have got the bel air ti, but was more expensive.0 -
Im on an SDG BelAir RL CroMo which came from my Commie onto my Boardman. Going to upgrade to a Titanium BelAir. Will be pretty personal though.0
-
I'm on an SDG Bel Air RL Titanium and its perfect for me.( I have camo for winter and cow for summer)
I have also tried the Fizik Gobi XM and this was pretty good too.
The Charge Spoon does get good write ups and its a bargain too but I haven't tried yet0 -
Try padded shorts and maybe even a harder saddle as this worked for me harder and thinner is the way forward because big saddles make you bum numb0
-
Another recommendation for the Charge Spoon here, it's not very padded but it's well shaped and constructed which is more important. You need to be the right shape though, but they seem to suit most people. I got their racier model too, the Knife, which has even less padding but is still all-day comfy for me, no need for padded shorts or anything.Uncompromising extremist0

Another Charge spoon fan here0

what about a saddle cover?? may not be the most stylish lookish thing but pretty comfy and usualyy a fiar bit cheaper than buying a new saddle0
-
Covers tend to just make things worse, they're not usually supportive enough so they just squish under you then add more chafing. Quite effective for short rides but for longer rides you trade short term comfort for long term pain, in my experience.Uncompromising extremist0

I just got a SDG Bel Air Ti from Merlin for about £30. Very comfortable and its a lot more comfy than the WTB Devo that came as standard on my bike0

SDG Bel air for me. Worth shopping around as prices vary greatly. I have got teh tit railde on in the past for as little as 35 Euros and a year later been asked to pay 60 GBP for the same itemEverything in moderation ... except beer
Beer in moderation ... is a waste of beer
If riding an XC race bike is like touching the trail,
then riding a rigid singlespeed is like licking it
... or being punched by it, depending on the day0 -

If its for a hardtail can reccomend these, had the older version for ages till it broke. Def the comfiest saddle arround, loads of flex and built in elastomer dampers and gel cushions, and still <300g, even worth it at £80 for the new light version

This may sound like crazy man talk, but have you considered either the Spesh Toupe or the slightly stronger Phenom? Toupe's a fair wadge of cash but no more than a Gobi.
Swear by the Toupe with the right width and padded shorts...0 -
Agree with Joe - I have the Phenom SL (the carbon and Ti one) - not only is it very light, it's also very comfy. Looks like a torture device, feels like a sponge marshmallow. And of course it looks cool... 8)0
