Doing my first century in many a year tomorrow, from SW Leics up through Buxton and on to Rochdale, 105 miles. If I'm not a complete wreck when I get there I plan to have a pop at Blackstone Edge, a bit of a climb just outside Littleborough. Or maybe look at it and think 'nah - warm bath instead...'. :)

Not looking for advice at this stage, just thought I'd flag it up on here to give me that extra incentive not to cop out at Buxton or Glossop. If you're about to warn me of the hills, thanks but I've already looked. They look a bit scary, but then so did the one from Eccleshall up to Loggerheads in Staffs the other week when I did N Wales, but I was most of the way up that before I realised that I was on it, and the climb up into Caerwys at 85 miles wasn't too bad compared to what I expected - it was near vertical on the BikeHike route elevation chart.

Anyway, 105 miles, looking at around 6 & half hours or so plus stops. Looking forward to it.

:)

Here's a photograph I took last winter from the White House pub at Blackstone Edge, looking down over Hollingworth Lake towards Rochdale. Hopefully it will be a bit warmer for you tomorrow...

Nice - I was up there just before the new year and it looked a bit like that then; happy days :).

Someone close to me who doesn't want me to do this [you know how a lot of people just don't 'get' cycling?] warned yesterday that the forecast is for temperatures to be up in the 40s over the weekend and that I mustn't do it. I'll take my sombrero just in case then.

Was halfway up it yesterday afternoon for a loosener after doing the ton on Saturday, and realised I'd left the camera back at base camp - I'd had an idea about doing the same picture but with nice weather. Shame - it was a gloriously sunny day yesterday, v bright, all the stuff you want on an English summer's day esp the strong breeze that helps you up that hill at 7-8mph instead of 6, even though it did hinder my descent. Couldn't get past 41 going down, so still to beat my PB of 42 from last September.

NB - weather was cloudy, grey, v wet in The Peaks but sunny by Littleborough on Saturday afternoon. Not 40 Centigrades by a long chalk.
