What 2010 bike are you waiting for?

I'm ready to buy a Santa Cruz Nomad but want to wait for the 2010 version in case they decide to carbon it up. Still I'm going to get one asap

If that doesn't work out than the 2010 Giant Reign X for sure.

The Commencal Meta 55 carbon looks quite nice but the horror stories of frames cracking may put me off.

possibly looking at a dh bike next year. but need space and cash to buy it. It'll probably only be a frame only option rather than off the peg. will compliment my Merlin and Specialized nicely!

Just bought my bike for 2009 (2007, stumpy FSR Elite, 2008 Kinesis Maxlight XC Pro II), a Focus Cayo 105, a road bike  .

Not sure I'd get away with another bike in the foreseeable.
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result

A 2010 Nomad is going to cost some cash and a carbon version will require a re-mortgage.

If I get a 2010 bike then it will be a Specialized Tarmac road bike.

SDK2007 DO IT!! DO IT!! DO IT!! DO IT!! DOOOOO ITTTTTTT!!!!!

    :D

Last year, I got a 2009 model (and with money off 8) - sometimes it's great being a soldier 8) ), anyway, I LOVE my road bike. Ok, my heart is still buried deep in MTB's - but it's great. After you've got a few hundred miles under your belt hard road miles, give a few races a go... THEN you'll realise what HARD training is

It'll do wonders for your fitness and strength, on and off road, and generally.

    GET ONE!!!

You obviously know about On-One bikes. I have a 26'' slot dropout Inbred as a SS. Brilliant!!

It's flexy enough to give some compliance, but not enough so as you feel like you're riding a blamange!

And I can highly recommend the Chris King SS hubs too! I have a pink ISO hubset - truely beautiful to behold, and a VERY quality component. I think it'll out-last me!!!

Nothing at all - I never buy new bikes, but wait until they are reduced if I want anything.

Even though I just bought a new bike (well, it's a 2007, but I bought it new a few months ago), I'm lusting after a 'proper' DH bike. REALLY like the look of the Foes DHS Mono, or maybe the Brooklyn Machine Works Race Link. Mmmmmmm!!!!

For anyone who hasn't seen these bike before - here ya go!

Brooklyn Machine Works Race Link, with full Avalanche shocks...

OP: Santa Cruz don't really "year" bikes, they just change the frame when they think of something better.

I may start building up a hardtail next year, depends how much use I think it'll get.

Have you seen the size of the Kerbs in Salisbury?!! Personally I'm saving for a Jones, so far I have £38.14 towards it, not far to go me thinks...

I'm waiting parts to be cheaper than 2009, or at least your pound to be weaker. :)
I'm probably gonna build my dream hardtail.

farily sure my next bike will be a mid travel all dayer, like a 575 or a Mojo. The thought of a carbon Nomad makes me damp in all thewrong places though.

I have told myself that I need to start actually *doing* epic rides before I go and buy myself an epic ride bike. Currently my riding involves 40km blasts round local forests on my SS or humping it up and down hills in the ardennes on the Evil. If I start riding all-dayers (and therre are some in my club keen to) then I can see something 140mm and very shiny in my future. If not, tehn I'll probably tell myself that once i buy the bike, I'll statr doing the rides and get one anyway
Everything in moderation ... except beer
Beer in moderation ... is a waste of beer

If riding an XC race bike is like touching the trail,
then riding a rigid singlespeed is like licking it
... or being punched by it, depending on the day

Yeah. Total overkill for the UK. I have my 6.6 for the UK. I want a 'proper' DH bike to take to the Alps, Fort Bill, etc.

There's also a good free-ride park within about a mile of where I live, with 15-20ft drops, 30ft jumps... Some of the stuff there is BIG. Is some smaller stuff too - I gotta build up, but for the bigger jumps and drops, it (me?!) would probably kill my Intense. So want something a bit bigger.

Is that OK with you rwalworth?

Surely everyone is waiting for the 2010 version of their own bike, hoping that it is lower spec than their own....
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

I've been monitoring the new Intense Uzzi which looks stunning (to me) and can be built up AM or just a tough trail bike. Apparently hitting these shores in 2 weeks or less so hope to get a look and a ride on one soon. Whether I have the wonga to do it whilst trying to move house after baby number 2, is a different thing altogether!

    Hope this works if you're interested: http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgur ... 8%26um%3D1

Sorry, I'm crap at attaching pictures or links. Otherwise, Google it

  • Intrigued by getting the Santa Cruz Blur LT. If it's 1850 bucks from America, plus 200 for shipping and then £350 VAT, it's still cheaper than buying from a British shop.

    From U.S - £1615

    From U.K - £1750

Or are my numbers/logic all wrong?

There's meant to be a new 6"ish Cove AM type bike coming that would replace my '06 Endruo nicely. No name for it yet, but I'm guessing it'll be rude.

Prototype looks more like a mini Shocker than a bigger Hustler, it'll look boss parked next to my shocker in the garage, which of course is first and foremost when buying a new bike

Might have to wait a bit, just bought a CBR and started my own business, 3 weeks in, total expenses £4500 ish, total income £0. I'm a bit worried tbh.
