just read in the local paper (it's an old one but only just picked it up) that last weekend 3 17 year old kids were beaten up and mugged of their bikes at bryn bach park in south wales, the one kid has 3 broken ribs and a broken eye socket that's gonna need surgery!!!!

they said that one of the guys was at least in his thirties...what a bunch of scally dick heads, robbing these young kids of their pride and joy when all they want to do is go out and rip up the trails....they deserve to be shot!

i'm not sure if the kids come on here but let us know if you do and if anyone knows who stole the bikes, tell the police.......

rant over

Scum... I have always wondered if this sort of thing went on, I do a fair amount of riding by myself, but if I ever come across scum like that I would fcuking kick off and even if they managed to get my bike, theird be having to ride off without a head.

This country is too soft on sh!t sticks like these.

If anyone tried to take my bike I'd put up a bloody good fight. Unless they had a knife. Which they probably would because all of those braindead scumwads can't fight like a real man like in the good old days.

    Pooves the effing lot.

I'm sorry, but I don't have many good things to say about South Wales. My friend had all the components nicked off his Trek and his next bike was damaged severely. And this was supposed to be in a secure area and in an area of cardiff which is suppose to be fairly low crime.

These guys need to be strung up by the balls to be honest. Probably want to sell the bikes for their next hit.
  • always carry a pen knife around even if you don't need to deal with scum you can use it to take stones outta your SPDs
I assume this is French petrol - be careful in reverse - the car will retreat rapidly at the least provocation.

Hmmm, introducing a knife into a situation like that increases the chances that you'll get stabbed, which is never a good thing! Surely by the time you've fished a pen knife out and got the blade ready, and then put away the fish scale remover and nail file that accidentally opened as well, the scum bag in question will already be breaking ribs and eye sockets! Best bet is to ride like the wind, as tempting as some 'tough' justice might seem.

Hope you get your bike back welshkev! That or a tasty insurance payment / settlement.

I always carry an Opinel knife out with me (burried somewhere in the bottom of my camelback, not sure where), more out of habit, but would NEVER attempt to pull it on anyone.... I'd try to seriously, seriously injure anyone who pulled a blade on me (as it's like saying ''I'm gonna kill you''... For me, it's like threatening strangling them with your shoelaces or your bike chain - ''One minute lads, let me just use my chain tool to remove it, so I can beat you with it....''

I have, however, used in great success, going absolutely mental - screaming and shouting, getting really 'up-in-their-faces' and being super, super, SUPER aggressive. If it doesn't scare them enough for them to run away, it batters their confidence SIGNIFICANTLY, enough for me to, more often than not win the fight, if it escalates to blows.

Normally I'm soft as sh1t though, honest!

thats why i pretty much always carry my Kryptonite Evolution Mini with me, it might be small but size isn't everything :P ask your GF. a swift swing off the side of the scums head will put him off for a bit. long enough to make your escape anyway.

True Attack first and be far more aggressive than them an usually they will lose the will to fight and run. Or stab you

    They are scumbags.

I usually ride on my own and this is a concern that I have.

77ric, to be honest, I've only ever been verbally threatened with a knife. I've never SEEN one in a confrontation... 8) Probably some little chav bastard trying to out-scare me (won't work - I've been PROPERLY scared, chav's can't bring sh1t to the party).

You have much a problem with the ned's up your gaff then?

GSDog, I tend to ride on my own, early-ish morinings, and evenings. I sometimes get concerned about it too, but not really been an issue. Gotta love being rural 8)

However, this morning (might I just say I love dogs before I say anymore), I was out, and two big, MASSIVE dobermans came sprinting up to me, when I was out cycling some place I've never been before - thought I was being attacked by some scrapyard dogs or something, after inadvertantly tresspassing. Was actually properly concerned they were gonna tear me up, but they were harmless 8) Thankfully!

2 of my friends went up to Afan a few weeks ago and had the car broken into. Both their bikes and all their riding kit was nicked. Bloody nice bikes as well, a commencal meta and a yeti asr-sl. The yeti had just been fitted with a brand new pair of fox F100s too and the trip was to be their maiden voyage.

So they drove to Afan on Friday afternoon, and then came home again on Saturday minus several grands worth of kit and with a written off car. And they didn't even get to ride!!

Bloody b*stard theiving c*nts!!!

i'll see a few around the locals on an evening. never had much of a problem with them myself, i'm taller than what they like to try it on with. plus i've got bigger balls

i grew up in a pretty ruff area so i learned how to get out of trouble the best way

yep i run like fuck when i get a chance  otherwise i get right up in there face and invade there space basically intimidate them and they usually go running. I work bloody hard for my money to spend and I'll tell you this they aint getting shit of me.

did have two try it on the locals as i was hurtling down the descent at speed, I'll tell you this my bikes a pig on the climbs, but by christ it pays back in spades going t'other way. one of them wont be trying that again. ever. don't know if you've ever been hit by nearly 100kg of bike, rider and kit at 25 MPH, one little scumbag has. I was fine bikes built like the proverbial brick shithouse and i'm not exactly soft either. when i stopped his pal ran. told the one lying on the ground that if i see him again I'll f*ck him hard next time. needless to say I've never seen either again.

it wasn't my bike, i read it in the local paper. i'm quite a big guy with a skinhead and look quite mean (i'm nice honest :D ) and i think people might think twice about trying to rob me and if they did try they'd have a limp for a while and probably be eating through a straw.

but to rob and severly injure 3 young lads like that......tossers.

what i want to know, is because by the sound of it they were pretty nice bikes, do proper mountain bikers buy these nicked bikes or do they just sell them to some chav who rides around the local housing estate.

and to the people who haven't got much good to say about south wales. well, i live here and personally have had no problems with broken in cars etc, however, where the trail centres are: afan, cwmcarn etc are in quite rundown areas that used to rely on mining, steel works etc. obviously when these places closed down times became hard and thieving scum appear...we're not all like that honest :D:D

I hate to say it but i reckon some of these bikes end up in the hands of proper bikers, some people just don't care where the bike has come from they'll happily believe the sob story on ebay. the rest no doubt just end up dumped on a ruff local housing estate.

some people just don't believe that if it's to good to be true, then it bloody well is, you will not pick up a well specced bike for 50 notes. scum

    +1 Truth....

Go shock and awe from second 1...

start with the screaming and shouting...hopefully they will think you are nuts and back off...failing that....cause as much damage as quickly as possible to the biggest one there....and if you still get a bleaching...well...had kickings before and i am sure i will have them again.

    failing that...peg it! :D

Agree about the knife.....do not pull it....the only thing guaranteed about pulling a knife is that someone is gonna get cut.
