can any one please tell me if i need a top swing front mech as my conven one catches or rear swinger before it can even get in to middle cog any help gratley recived
if i had my time again would i take the time to make the right choices

    Orange website lists all compatibilty issues for a few years back. Worth checking there.

    and there is more than one XT front mech. and then there are different ones when they changed the years..

  • i know its just one thing after another cant get on att all bike sat in garage cant use the bloody thing
    oh sorry tryed a sram x7 con fit can be top pull or bottom pull
    clamp is hitting the swinging arm there is not enough movment on mech to get it into top cog
    if i had my time again would i take the time to make the right choices

    I'm pretty sure (99%) you need a top swing for a sub 5

    Orange might be able to confirm, they are pretty helpful

    I'm with Andy_B. You need a top swing Derailleur, like the one above. Make sure it's the right size clamp for the seatpost though. Look for the seatpost diameter on the seat quick release or clamp.

    and now we can see the pic we can see that you have not got a top swing fitted.

    as guessed but it may have been another problem.
