Soon to sell a bike of mine but I'm really not sure about the asking price. Here's what's on offer:

Omega Helix- full-ti frame
w/
Open Pros on Record Hubs (just over 18 months use)
Full 9sp Record
Easton EC90 Carbon SLX Bars
Columbus Muscle Forks
Easton EA90 Stem
Fizik Pave Sport Saddle

Frame and forks are about 2-2.5 years old; most of the components match the original spec but have been replaced over time

The chainset and Record carbon bottom bracket were replaced about three months ago, so fairly new.

The bars and stem are almost new, as is the saddle. Also I'm about to replace the Campag cables and put on new Fizik Microtex bar tape.

Only probs I know of: a couple of dings in the rear rim and scrappy tyres -Corsa Evo CX, only a few months old but not too strong.

Frame has never been crashed but has had a fair bit of use, really is a great frame though.

I was thinking about £750, any opinions- too high, could I get more?

Much appreciated, Simon.

Start at about 50% of what it cost, so £750 is a reasonable price. I wouldn't worry about the tyres and the bar tape - it's a used bike and not being sold as immaculate

Sell it in bits on ebay.

Why don't you put it on ebay - the buyer determines the asking price !

Yes, I've contemplated ebay. Although I worry it won't get its true worth being an unknown brand to most folk. Also, ebay is a pain in the arse!

If it doesn't go I'll leave it in the hands of fortuna on the fleabay; either in bits or whole.

I used ebay recently to sell a bike I was replacing. I started it with a low starting price and ended up getting £50 more than I initially thought would be a good price.

So long as you get a good number of watchers (I had about 20) you can usually double your price in the last 24 hours. If it attracts little interest in the first 6 days you can remove it from the auction when there is over 24 hours remaining and either reword it or put it on at another time.

I usually get my auctions to end at about 9pm on a Sunday evening, there's nothing on the telly then so people seem to be online and in a bidding mood.

I think with your bike if you stress the Titanium frame and groupset in the title line people will look at it. There's no harm in taking cash on collection after the auction either to avoid the Paypal fees!

Yes, if I list the bike I will be sure to put the words, carbon; Record; titanium etc in the listing's title. And, as you said, 9.00pm on a Sunday, or maybe even midweek would be a good strategy.

    Cheers.
