Inline barrel adjuster

I've got inline barrel adjusters on my campag bike. I need to sort out the gearing so when I loosen the bolt on each derailer do I need to twist each adjuster? If so clockwise or anti-clockwise? These are not the barrel adjusters on the derailer, or in MTB on v-brake.
Say... That's a nice bike..

If you want to setup the mech again you should slacken off all adjusters, meaning screw them in clockwise before you start making adjustments.

Should you not screw them to their middle position, then you can adjust them both ways, tighter & looser ?

That's what I was thinking but how many turns is in the middle? I've managed to tweak the gears. Is it normal on a triple, on the middle front chainring changing from smallest to largest rear requires you to use a click (but not change gears) on the front derailer as the front derailer is rubbing just slightly?

The bike stand has helped considerbly
