Damn and blast....

I got my old GT out of retirement and suitably adorned it with the neccesities of riding, saddle bag for tools, drinks recepticle, computer and snazzy bell.
I've had it back on the road for the past 2 months and it's riding well after a overhaul, new pads and tyres, etc, etc.
Bearing this in mind I decided to buy a "shed" for the odd ocassion when I have to leave a bike unattended but locked.
I managed to secure a Gary Fisher Marlin and today I finally took it for a test run, what a mistake.....it seems to ride better than the GT..
Can anybody suggest why? I know the seat post to headstock is 1.5 inches longer on the Gazza apart from that I'm stumped....
Thanks...
