I'm just going to start racing and was thinking of doing the Blehneim TT or Sportive. Do i
need a racing license and if not what is a racing license? By the way i'm not with a club(
apparently you don't need one if your in a club)

Your a bit mixed up mate. No licence required to TT or do sportives. You need BC silver or gold membership and a racing licence if you are going to do any mass start RACE, (thats why sportives dont count). You can do some race events on a day licence - details on BC site. Hope that helps.

Yes you need one. I have just got 1 year silver membership at £36 and a race licence for £32. You need these to start at Cat 4 racing. If you just get the silver membership you can buy a 1 day licence at your race.

    Hope this helps.

Confusing messages - you only need a race licence for road racing - not TTs or sportives.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

LVRC needs a licence. TLI also but you can get 'on the day' ones (expensive). Scotland, don;t know.
For the OP. You need to be in a CTT affiliated club to ride open TTs. No license. Many clubs run closed TTs locally which you can ride as a come and try event. you would need to contact the clubs for info on these. LBS may also know.
