My front hayes disc brake has developed a squelching sound when i ride. does it need bleeding?

    how does the lever feel?

    squelching sound would come from the lever, try a squirt of wd up your lever towards the master cylinder, mine was squeaking from there, if its more than a squeak then its a bleed or a rebuild.

    the lever feels a bit spongy, does that affect it?
