As a park worker its amazing what i find. My latest find is an Apollo 7005 allu bike that some little toe-rag had tried to burn. Anyway the frame is salvagable but my problem is the chainring crank. When I tried to extract it all the threads sheared out. The other one is the rear hub. The wheel was smashed up and I have no leverage to remove the screw on block. I dont want to wreck the hub by jamming it in a vice or using a stilson on it. Any help would be appreciated ta.

Find the "toe-rag" and show him how to properly burn a terrible bike?

if it has been well toasted i would not be using it. in that you dont know how the heat has effected it.

no it was only the forks that got the worst of it. The frame was only blackened.

Get an angle grinder & cut through towards the bb axle, when you get close to it get a big screwdriver & hammer & hit in the gap you've made.
It should come off, if not cut a bit more or get a ball joint remover & put it behind the crank & hit it with a hammer.

For the wheel just get a freewheel removal tool & put it in a vice, put the wheel on it & turn anti clockwise.

See if you can borrow a ball joint remover from your local garage. Get it in and split the grank off the BB - it'll no doubt be a square taper so should be able to split the bugger off with a big mallet......

When in doubt give it a clout! lol
    It's been a while...
