What are the benefits & advantages of road specific pedals (like Shimano SPD SL) over regular SPD pedals?
I'm thinking of getting "proper" road pedals as have used SPDs on my road bike for about 5 years, and was wondering if road-specific pedals give me an advantage
Any comments much appreciated

I found that the clicking in mechanism is a lot more positive and 'clunky'. Also the platform is bigger so it's easier on my feet over longer distance. Also they're aren't as wobbly meaning my foot has never come out accidently. Downsides would have to be the fact that the shoes aren't as easy to walk in because the cleats are much bigger and not recessed also they're harder to clip into because they're single sided so you need to nudge them(the pedals) with the front of your foot to get into position but once used to that they're much better. In my opinion of course....winter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg
