Hi guys, just after a bit of advice.
Am looking to get the Giant Trance X 5 full sus bike.
On my HT is a pair of Rock Shox Recon 351 U-Turn 85-130mm coil forks.
I am thinking of swapping the Rock Shox Recon 335 Solo Air 120mm travel currently on the Giant Trance X5 with those coil forks. I will also get the Coil forks stiffened as I am near 14st.
Anyone with experience of Air and Coil forks or using a coil/air combination of fork and shock. the rear shock on the Giant is the standard Giant Air Shock.., This would be replaced in the winter months for the Fox RP23.
Thanks for any advice you can give.
peace
G

I see no apparant problem with it, other than rider preference and how you like your suspension to feel on the bike. I'd presume having air back and front means you can balance the suspension, sag etc.... out more evenly by just adjusting air pressure in both to get similar sag and rebound, a coil shock you don't quite get the same sort of adjustability.0

re the fork no issue.
changing the shock could be an issue for a number reasons, will it fit as air Cans can be fatter and the second is that air sprung suspension is naturally a rising rate and if added to a suspension design that is also rising rate can cause a odd feeling at the top end of the sus travel.
Look at the makers range and see what they fit as standard."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

sorry a bit of confusion here.
I would keep standard air shock, only to replace it with an air shock of a higher spec at a later date.
The forks would be changed to the stiffened pair mentioned above.
my appologies if I have caused any confusion on this.
Thanks again peeps
