Was expecting my new Oakley Jawbones to arrive in the post this morning as all along they have been billed as having a 1st June release date. They didnt arrive and now I see that they are not due till 10th June! I have ordered through Cyclestore but see that other stores are also saying 10th June now!
Whats going on?! Very annoying as I can gaurantee the sun will go in as soon as they arrive?
Has anyone actually received a pair yet, if so who did you order them from?

If the sun goes in cos you get your glasses - you'll be in BIG trouble !!0

I've a mate who works for Oakley in the US and there's been a small production issue (he'd promised me a pair and I'm having to wait as well). He reckoned the first ones would be out this week from the factory.0

Cool! Thanks for that.
I am doing L2P on 17th June and am just praying I get them before that.0 -
Cyclestore syas 8th June now!0

I just phoned an internet vendor (The Internet Opticians), who is saying end of June now. :roll:0

I'm starting to think that the Jawbone could be a bit of a lemon. I've been waiting for months for them to be released as I'm in the market for some specs and wanted to be able to compare them to the Radars before I buy anything. Oakley must be having some quite serious production problems.
I suppose there are two ways of looking at this:
1.) the design of the glasses is flawed - don't buy them.
2.) Oakley is working really hard to ensure that the design is perfect and that what eventually hits the shops is a good product which we can rely on.
Not sure which I would go with. The design itself is quite complicated with the two hinges and I would wonder if this could make the frames more prone to failure, but then you're not having to put loads of stress on the frame every time you snap the lenses in and out.
You would think Oakley would keep potential customers informed.0 -

And they look awful too, get a pair of Radars instead or even better, Pro M Frames!0 -
Well I haven't made my mind up on the way that they look so wanted to try all of the different styles before coming to a decision. But if Oakley don't pull their finger out it will be winter again...0

Bit too 'way out' for me I think.
Oakley guarantees are great tho so I wouldnt worry from a tecchy point of view.0 -
Just let me know if you want to borrow one of my stock of €2 glasses from a corner shop in Holland while you wait...0

I have had cheaper glasses in the past and never look after them properly. After a couple of months they're usually so scratched that I can't see out of them.
My theory is that if I spend lots of money on some glasses I will be more likely to look after them properly.
I know some people would say that they're too expensive but I've got a bit of spare money and I might as well buy nice things with it I suppose.
Whether the Jawbones qualify as nice I haven't decided...0 -
good things come to those who wait!
i'd like the Jawbone, but I'll wait for the Custom option so I can choose frame colour and lens optionsM.Rushton0 -
Asked this very question in the Covent Garden Oakley Store yesterday.
The guy said 2 weeks...0 -
Not sure I get the point of the Jawbone. Am I right in thinking it has a hinged frame which makes swapping lenses easier? Why would you want to do that? Surely you have several pairs with different lenses for different light conditions (or for different jersey/bike combinations...)0

I don't really think I can afford to be so extravagant as to buy more than one pair of Oakleys...0

Ordered a pair last night from The Internet Opticians - They said 8th but I suspect they'll be longer. Not in too much of a rush though.0

My mate has the M frames and he seems to have probs with his lenses cracking cos he swaps between 3 lenses. He's had a couple replaced.
Not a prob for me as I have yellow lens in my M frame and a sunny day lens in my Radars.0 -

It's not an extravagance, it's a necessity... 8)cougie wrote:My mate has the M frames and he seems to have probs with his lenses cracking cos he swaps between 3 lenses. He's had a couple replaced.
Think someone already mentioned, Oakley are very good with warranty stuff. I've had several pairs replaced, even if the standard 1 year warranty has run out. You can buy a new warranty for about £10 or so.
Had a really old pair of Frogskin 2's replaced when the frame broke. They don't make them any more so couldn't replace them, offered me a new pair at a discounted rate, something like 30% off.0 -

Still have two pairs, one in a very cool translucent brown finish, look a bit like a Coke bottle. Maybe I need to buy a Z jersey so I can pretend I'm Robert Millar!
But my favourite "blast from the past" would be the original Sub Zeros, made you look like a fly, rather than a character from the Banana Splits...0 -
So you weren't joking about buying two pairs then!0

My mate just emailed me a photo of some he has in his possession in the USA. Not sure if any have shipped yet - you might have them already - but if not they are now on their way from the factory.0
-
They arrived this morning and are sweeeeet!!0
-
Dang...you beat me.
He's over this weekend and hand delivering my pair. Red with reaction lenses 8)0 -
Nice!
Mine are white with black iridium! I look a bit like the big hairy one from the bannana splits!0 -

Hand delivered by the guy who suggested the nose piece as the release mech!
He told me some great stories about Oakley - all very cool and most not to be repeated - best being that the company is named after the founders dog 8)0 -

Bingo - I think that's what they've been calling Mark Cavendish.
Are the frames as big as they look?
I'm going to Florida next week so was going to compare prices there.0
