I asked the seller but I am still completely unconvinced! The 2004 XTC SE 3 did not come in that frame colour, the forks are a different colour and the frame downtube is not round where it meets the... headset tube? (sorry, I'm a newbie)
The 2003 model comes in that colour but once again the downtube is shaped at the headset end, and the livery is different and the XTC stickers on the back are in a different place.
I'm considering this as a starter bike (will change the dodgy brake and the tyres), as the componentry seems decent and I've heard good things about giant frames... but i definitely want to know what I'm buying before I commit..
Regards,
Pavel

It is what it says I believe. The SE 'Special Editions' are often released later in the year. Can be seen here:

Hi,
thanks for the reply,
I've already visited that webpage... but my point is.. which one of those bikes is it? None seem to match up!

This one, isn't it?

Often different sizes of bike will have different head tube lengths and tubing to fit.0 -
Doesn't look like one to me...
the downtube is different to the 06 and 07 Giant XTC frames.

Thats cos its a 2004 ;-)
Or maybe a 2003.0 -
however the chainstay is the same.
Go with what SS said... they must have changed the tube profile for different frames.0 -

I swear I read 2007!! no wonder I couldn't find a 2007 SE!!
Its too late for me0 -
Would the XTC sticker on the seatstays also be in a different place? I didn't realise that different frames would miss strengthening elements and have different tube profiles! cheers guys!0

Some frames are custom designed for the size. You can easily see it on some GTs where the tubes meet the headtube, on large frames there is a clear gap between the head and down tube, whilst on the smaller frames they change shape and morph into each other with a huge extra welds. Tubes may be butted differently, different diamterers. Same with the stays
Siickers will vary too over a run of 100s of frames ;-)0 -
Hi
For what its worth
Where is the Giant badge on the head tube
if it is an xtc it would be on the down tube as well
or at least have giant on it .
And where is the gusset on the the down tube
all the other xtc have this
Correct me if i am wrong but all one colour except for stickers
not seen giants like that0 -
Stickers fell off?!0

Seller has a copy of receipt.
Why not ask for a scanned copy and check back with the shop?0
