And they're off - Still all together.

I can't believe in 2 days time I won't have to be crushingly disappointed with rubbish racing day after day.
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.

Krivtsov and Facci 3.5 minutes up the road at the moment.

Someone's got to attack today, tomorrow's pretty flat so it's either today or the TT that I reckon we'll get serious changes in the GC.

You are obviously upset at the prospect of not seeing Lance on your screen for a few weeks.
Still: be more exciting than most of the Tour stages.
I wonder if they'll be printing train schedules, rather than race schedules?

I keep meaning to mention Iain, I bought a cuddly toy version of your avatar while at the Giro.

To entertain you while we're waiting for Basso to crush everyone (sorry I mean Menchov to pick up another time bonus for second ahead of Di Luca) here's a transcript of the excrutiating conversation I had, in my best Italian, with one of the guys selling them at the finish in Triest.

    Me (pointing): What's it called?
    Him: A mascot
Me: No, how do you say it's name?
Him (very slowly looking at me strangely): Maaasssscooot. M-A-S-C-O-T
Me: Errrrr, no, it's real name?
    Him: Oh, Il Giribecco.

    2009 - 171
    2008 - 146
    2007 - 141
    2006 - 155

Looked like quite a heavy fall, but he was up straight away and is being paced back by Rubiera.

Yup, looked like quite a bad one but got straight back up as you say.

Rolled into the wall at the side there (just getting up, bike in middle of road, in shadow)

Stunning scenery -- thank god for internet streaming.

I think the racing should be stopped and the stage neutralised.

    It's obviously way too dangeous.

Last time they rode this section of road they refused to race. Rolled through sedately. It was raining then though.

Will you look at that corner, it turns sharply and there is a wall on the outside. That's freaking dangerous.

A pity the Mafia hadn't nicked the wall.
    Definitely dodgy bike handling.
Iain won't be pleased to hear that he also took out Basso....well his bike, at least.
Ivan stayed on his feet, unlike Lance.

Grivko trying to bridge across to the two breakaways.....

About 70km to go, leaders have 3 minutes 25 sec on the peloton.

Grivko caught on the descent after the GPM line

They went over the first GPM a few minutes ago... so less than 60 I reckon.

Earlier in the week someone was asking what Carlton Kirby's specialist sport was. He's now doing MotoGP on ES2 and I can confirm he's rubbish at that too.

    Cycling
    Waterpolo
    Handball
    MotoGP

    The list goes on...

Here's the TV Sprint, whatever that is. 52km to go then. They actually sprinted for it too!

It's just the nature of things. For some reason, Pierre from cycling report has a sideline doing commentry on kabaddi.

I used to love kabaddi on Channel 4 back in the day. Sunday morning, bowl of cornflakes for breakfast, kabaddi on telly. Perfecto. Channel 4 used to show sumo and stuff like that too. Then televised chess. Those were the days! What have kids got today? Hollyoaks, that's what. Travesty.

So let me get this straight ... you'd rather watch a fat bloke in a towel, than the fit young ladies in 'oaks ?? it's all clear to me now
.. who said that, internet forum people ?

WTF? David Harmon said I climbed vesuvius! I don't think so, only ever been to Italy once and that was skiing when I was a kid. I think he misread the email...

Well, I'd rather poke my eyes out with a sharp stick than watch an episode of Hollyoaks, so yes, I suppose so.
