10 speed skipping

just attempted to run a new10 speed ultegra cassette with a new 10 speed chain on my mtb.

however something isnt right it skipping and making wierd noises!

i have an xtr derailiuer and deore shifters (im ignoring the bottom cog so its running 9 speed really)

any ideas?

yes lots of ideas.

fit a 9 speed cassette as the 10spd has different spacing between the cogs and the cogs are also a different thickness

Or find a 10spd shifter and new 10sp jockey wheels.
