Hello - does anyone know if a Fox Float RL shock will fit onto a Pitch Comp?

Any help gratefully received.

Also - how are you meant to search the forums on this site?

yes if you get the correct i2i and stroke.

but it is not needed as spech keep saying how their design does not need any platform damping.

    search is top right.

all spesh FS bikes come with platform damping, even their own made shocks have low speed compression damping.

Aye, but the blurb on the website says FSR linkage does not bob and all your power goes into forward motion, not up and down.

and i agree, fact is that it needs platform to achieve this, i dont think spesh make any secret of that do they?

Just the way they word it. Most manufacturers are the same, make claims like that.

i getcha. either way, i like it. (although im not fan of speshs own suspension units, which is unfortunate as it perorms amazingly, just isnt reliable in my experience  )

Is what is comes down to in the end - trying out and if you like it, who is to say it is wrong?! I quite like the FSR as is not much pedal kickback. Is the reason I am not a fan of high SP like Orange 5.

If you want to see a joke of a website try the Ellsworth site - contradicts himself so badly as he compares all the systems.

as much as i like abit of engineering, i cant get my head around suspension mumbo jumbo. im not good enough a rider to notice the difference between one and the next. i always thought maestro felt the same as any fsr ive ridden. and i dont remember much differenc between either and my old saracen single pivot.

Probably a good way to be! Just bugs me that the manufacturers say what they do.
  • Jiggles you need a 200x57mm shock, or 7.785x2.25 in inches.

Nothing wrong with upgrading to a shock that performs better, just make sure you've done your research! I'm gonna give the X-Fusion a decent few runs and then make a definate decision, but I'm not sure it's up to it.

    Cheers Russ -
Not sure if that's the size of the Fox Float RL - presumably that's the extended eye-to-eye length and the travel (amount of inner visible when extended?)
Thanks for the response - that was very helpful

  • Yes that's right.

    Glad I could help.

I'm not being bitter here, and this isn't overly relevant to the Pitch in question, in all honesty I think my 2007 FSR XC was the bounciest full suspension I've ever ridden. I know the newer ones are supposed to be a lot better. Given the rest of the range offer ProPedal via the Triad shocks I found it odd they claimed to be bob free. The only way I could get rid of it was by absolutely hammering up the damping on the back end.

I even rode an '09 Enduro at a recent demo and found that to be far more efficient. I don't know if it was the angle of the shock, seating position or something. Anything but a very, careful smooth spin and I'd pogo along though :?
  • I think it all depends on the rider and how you ride. I still get a small amount of bob on my pitch, which is part of the reason I want to upgrade the rear shock. But it's definately only a small amount.

I'm sure if someone else rode my bike they'd experience the ride differently.

True, I'm comparing it to a lot of bikes though. I must have had an hour+ spin on a good 10 or so full sussers, my Commencal, a couple of Enduros, a Trance, Blur LT, Niner, Bionicon, Orange 5 etc. I can't recall any bouncing as much, I think it's just weight/shock positioning, all pedaling force seems to be earger to bounce it along.

The Pitch design is nothing like the old FSRs by the way, they had the horizontal shock, not the vertical one like the new bikes :) The Enduro I rode which was the new design seemed a lot better.

ive got an enduro and an old styley stumpy and a new styley stumpy, i find both of the stumpies fel the same, both have a triad fitted which has a fair dollop of propedal but when i switch that off, it does bob along a fair old bit (awesome for descending but i rarely bother turning the propedal off)

the enduro is brill, i have a dhx fitted but it was better at pedalling with the original afr shock which was super dooper.
