Newbie and bib shorts!

I've been hitting the tarmac on and off for two years, and have three pairs of shorts, but the common theme being they're all cheap PBK Nalini specials. The sort a newbie would buy when first starting out. None cost more than £30 quids.
A few weeks ago I posted a thread saying I was looking for a new pair of shorts and Assos was mentioned by many, but I stated I wasn't sure I wanted to spend £100+, and that I was going to go for something a bit cheaper, but hopefully still 'quality'. I went for these: http://www.rutlandcycling.com/13305/Cam ... orts-.html
Now am sure the Assos are the dogs but for £60 I think these are great. So much more comfortable than the PBK, in all departments. They fit better: the shoulder straps stay in place: the back is mesh: they hold me in without squashing me: and despite the pad being thinner and less spongy it's well comfy resulting in no pressure points! I know we're all different shapes and sizes etc, but I just wanted to say to any newbie looking to upgrade their kit. If like me you have cheap shorts, even if you think yours are ok (like I did), seriously think about upgrading them before anything else on your bike? Trust me the difference to your ride will be unbelieveable! Am not saying get the Campag, just invest in a pair of 'quality' shorts. Learn this lesson a bit quicker than me. I'll never buy a cheap pair again. Hope this helps someone out there. :)

I had a pair of these last year and they were brilliant. Picked them up for about 20 quid from the bargain bin in the LBS too :D

It took me a while to take the plunge on decent shorts ( I was using 11 quid specials from Decathlon for ages) and couldn't believe I'd put it off for so long!

As you said, these should be the first upgrade!
