The Science of Lance Armstrong
Exploring seven-times Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong's training methods, physiology and equipment. Plus contributions from Armstrong and memorable footage from the Tour.
Sounds interesting. It's actually on now, but later it's repeated, so i'll watch it then. Just turned it on and they're talking about VO2 Max and all that...
There's some road race from Milton Keynes after it too, at 7.

I watched about ten minutes of it and that was enough. It was like one of those awful corporate advertising videos that try to make you believe that you made the right choice by choosing to do business with the Corporation.
the voiceover was just simpering, hyperbolic hogwash with all the critical balance of an Oscars ceremony.
Oh dear! I seem to have gone off on one. I'll go and have a lie down.0 -

Its been on before. You are right though, I found myself flicking to and from it after a short while. Shame really.0 -
Was that made by Lance's PR company?0

I believe the correct term for this type of program is 'hagiography'.
Objective it wasn't.0 -
Thanks for the heads up!Shazam !!0

Well, parts of it were interesting, but the last 15 minutes were pure cheese - his Mum going on about how Lance survived cancer with all the emotional music and over-epic voiceover...
They needed more info about the windtunnel stuff. It was getting really intriguing and then they cut to his childhood and all that crap... :?
The voice-over REALLY killed it though, especially when he started talking about how it's "unknown to science" why Lance produces less Lactate than any other rider, etc... What a load of bollocks!0 -
Geez how many times are they going to repeat this stuff? I saw this bout two years ago I reckon. Wouldn't be on if he wasn't riding the Giro and le tour.0
-
Also wouldn't be on if no-one was interested in watching :Pwinter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

Am I the only one who is NOT a lance basher. I am new to the sport (2 yrs) and think the guys a legend. What am I missing?0
-
read up on mercx anqueteil, zootmelk, hinault etc, the only thing i have against lance is he basically trained for one race a year, and people think he's a legend, hinault said a few years ago he'd still be racing if he had the program lance had, i did watch it (again btw) forgot aboutr the cheese at the end though and it is a bit corporate video0

Pah if you want a proper cycling documentary watch 'A Sunday in Hell', not a big long advert for Trek.

I don't like using the word boring but it seems perfectly apt in this case. Agree with the comments above. I like to think of cycling as an art rather than a science myself.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0

It is all about perpetuating the lie. When you watch it with the blinkers on it is amazing, take them off and you can see how they steer and veer to safety with their nice fresh cliches.
It's not about the name on the frame, check the vein.
