Noddy question re chains & cassettes

About 9 months ago changed entire drivetrain - Shimano chainset & Shimano HG70 chain & cassette (8 speed).

Performance since has been great but chain has now stretched a bit and middle chainring showing signs of wear. Have therefore replaced middle chainring and also fitted new SRAM PC850 chain.

But as I half expected the chain is now slipping on cogs 3-5 on the cassette so I've ordered a new Shimano HG50 cassette.

However just noticed that the blurb on the HG50 cassette says it is suitable for 'narrow 8 speed IG chains' so I'm a bit concerned that it won't run with the SRAM PC850 chain.

Are SRAM & Shimano drivetrain components interchangeable?

    Yes, it'll be fine.

Chains are compatible between shimano and sram as long as you get the correct 8 or 9 speed (9 speed chains are narrower again)

Cheers jmj. Was hoping that was the case.
