I'm thinking of converting my triple chainset to a single ring set up. However...
Is it just a case of taking the three chainrings of and putting one on where the outer ring was?
Also how do you measure for the required chainring bolt layout? E.g 74mm / 104mm / 110mm Do you measure diagonally the distance between the bolts across the BB or around the sides between the bolts.
Thanks

Try a search on "chain lines" in the Sheldon site, might be a good thing to look at?*Rock Lobster Team Tig SL (22lb 14oz)

Thanks CT found it, you measure across the BB.
If I'm going to run a regular 9 speed block on the back, what front chainring size would people recommend? Now that we are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak and not to please ourselves. ROMANS 15:10 -

Was thinking of using an e13 LG1 chain device, with no bash. Now that we are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak and not to please ourselves. ROMANS 15:10

Yeah, you don't need a bashring with that chainguard 'cos it's got a built in skid plate, but I guess you know that already.
Almost all chainguides come with a bash guard or skid plate.
It would be a shame to buy a seperate bashguard then not need it once you bought the chainguide.0 -
